Natural & pure silk
Silk is a natural fibre. “100% pure silk” describes the fibre content, rather than a particular weave or a guarantee that the cloth is handwoven. Its appearance depends on the yarn, weaving, dyeing and finishing.

MATERIAL, CONSIDERED
A beautiful finish begins with a thoughtful choice of fabric. Our regular invitation collections use premium faux silk. For 100% pure silk, we offer a personal consultation.
Understand the difference
01 · THE REGULAR COLLECTION
For a wedding invitation collection, the relationship between every piece matters. The box, folio and finishing details should feel like part of the same occasion.
We regularly use premium faux silk because it supports dependable color availability and a coordinated finish across an order. Its texture and sheen bring richness to the presentation while allowing us to work consistently with wrapping, folds and edges.
Faux silk is a silk-look fabric rather than a promise of natural silk fibre. The material and final shade are confirmed in your agreed specification. Availability is checked for your invitation collection, and a physical fabric sample is the best reference when a color match matters.

02 · BY PERSONAL CONSULTATION

For those who prefer natural silk, we offer 100% pure silk through direct consultation. We begin with the occasion, your invitation dimensions and the character you want the fabric to bring.
Natural silk can show subtle differences in shade, lustre and texture between lengths and dye lots. Handwoven fabrics may carry additional variations from the yarn and weaving process. These qualities can give a bespoke piece its individuality and should be considered when coordinating a complete collection.
We will discuss available silk colors, texture, the suitability of your chosen construction, and how a logo, embroidery or embellishment will sit on the fabric. Samples, quantity, timing and pricing are confirmed before the final specification is approved.

A SHORT FABRIC GLOSSARY
These names describe different aspects of a fabric. Understanding them makes the choice clearer.
HANDWOVEN THAI SILK · THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FABRIC
A silk keepsake carries more than color and texture. Behind handwoven Thai dupioni silk are the people who turn yarn into fabric, working at the loom with skill and care.
We work directly with local Thai artisans to support village handmade work. For a handwoven pure silk commission, the fabric is part of the conversation: its character, available colors and the people behind its making.

Silk yarn is the starting point: color and texture gathered before the weaving begins.

At the wooden loom, an artisan guides the threads into cloth, one considered movement at a time.

A closer view of silk on the loom shows the weave in motion and the fabric as it takes shape.

The finished dupioni fabric reveals its lustre and textured rhythm, ready to be considered for a bespoke piece.
These photographs show handwoven Thai dupioni silk, from yarn to finished cloth. Our regular invitation collection uses fine faux silk; 100% pure silk is selected separately through direct consultation.
Silk is a natural fibre. “100% pure silk” describes the fibre content, rather than a particular weave or a guarantee that the cloth is handwoven. Its appearance depends on the yarn, weaving, dyeing and finishing.
Dupioni is recognised for its crisp structure, lustre and characteristic slubs: thicker threads that give the surface a textured rhythm. A dupioni-style appearance alone does not establish fibre content; silk-look fabrics can also imitate that texture.
Thai silk connects natural silk with Thailand’s textile traditions and the skill of its weavers. We discuss the particular fabric and its provenance when selecting it for a commission. “Handcrafted in Thailand” describes where our products are made; it does not mean every covering fabric is natural Thai silk.
Faux silk is made to create a silk-like effect using other fibres. It is our regular choice for a coordinated invitation collection. We use the word “faux” to make that distinction clear, while giving the finished piece the same care in design and craftsmanship.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
No. Our regular invitation boxes and folios use premium faux silk. A 100% pure silk commission is discussed directly with the atelier and confirmed in the specification.
The online color collection is a starting point for the regular range. Natural silk shades are selected separately from the fabrics available for your commission. Please confirm an important match with a physical sample.
A photograph can show the presentation, texture and finishing details, but it cannot establish fibre content. The opening photograph shows finished book folios made from dupioni silk; the process photographs show yarn, handweaving and finished fabric. The material for your own order is confirmed in writing.
